5 Tips on Photographing Your Jewelry  - With Your Smart Phone

    I take all my photos with my smart phone. Here are some easy and simple tips to make the best of your photos, to better showcase your work!

​1. Clean Your Lens

​  For a clear picture, make sure to wipe your lens before use. I use a microfiber towel to clean my lens. A simple and easy fix to blurry or foggy photos.

​2. Find the Perfect Lighting

    There's a couple of steps I take to find the correct lighting.
Natural light is best. I take majority of my photos outside, in the shade, without my camera's flash. If the weather is bad, I'll take photos in a window sill.

   If I'm taking a picture of something silver or shiny, sometimes I'll use a sheet of white paper to diffuse the light more. Reducing shine and glare.

3. Use a Solid Background

    ​Most of the backgrounds of my photos are of wood. Any solid background works well, though. I've even used solid fabric.

4. Try Different Angles

    Take several photos at different angles. Close up and from a distance. Try draping your jewelry on different props. I like to use rocks or other natural elements.

​5. Simple Editing

​  Take the time to make some simple adjustments to your photo. 3 main tones to adjust, or look at, is Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation. Just adjust these tones a few notches and compare before and after photos.

     If your photo has an orange glare, try adjusting your temperature tone as well. Lastly, crop your picture. Center your jewelry.
